The Light of the emissary: BOOK One

Broken Vessels

In 2395, twenty years after the end of the Dominion War and Benjamin Sisko’s ascension into the Celestial Temple, the fragile stability of the Alpha Quadrant begins to fracture once again.

As Bajor struggles to secure its future under First Minister Kira Nerys, political tensions deepen and old uncertainties resurface. On Deep Space Nine, now under Bajoran authority, General Ro Laren commands a station still shadowed by the ghosts of its past, working alongside Starfleet’s liaison to the Ferengi Alliance, Captain Nog, to maintain a hard-won but uneasy peace.

When a mysterious disturbance draws Wesley Crusher to the station, he is forced to rely on his Traveler discipline to navigate a series of increasingly complex and destabilizing events. At the same time, his mother, Captain Beverly Crusher of the USS Pasteur, undertakes a clandestine mission to Tzenkethi space, where a claimant to power seeks to open the long-secluded territory to the wider galaxy. As these threads begin to converge, mother and son are drawn toward the same unfolding crisis.

What follows will test the boundaries between family and duty, faith and reason, and the enduring weight of loss and reconciliation.
